Crier Gets You Ready for SPC: Field Hockey
JM VanSant '16, Sports EditorCasady Cyclones Girls Field Hockey heads down to Austin, Texas this Friday as the number one seed in the Southwestern Preparatory Conference, looking to take home their second championship ring in the last four years. Let's take a look at what it'll take to win a title and how the players feel they'll fare against their rivals, Greenhill.Record: 7-1Keys to Success: Everything starts and stops with goalie Grace Huff's ability to stop the ball from hitting the back of that net. If the Cyclones can limit power play opportunities and give Huff a chance to make a play in the box, it's hard to see the opposition putting any points on the board. The team needs to get out on the break and force the opposing defense on their heels. Seniors Ann Nordin and Megan Trachtenberg have shown their ability to hit the ball into the goal, and an uptempo offense with a lot of short, quick passes will open holes to the net.Player to Watch: Grace HuffAs stated before, games are won and lost by goals conceded. Recent Rider University commit Grace Huff is a strong force in front of the net and will look to showcase her supreme blocking ability in securing a Cyclones title. From the Players:When asked if they can win the championship:Milley VanSant '18: "Very strong chance."Megan Trachtenberg, '16: "Honestly, I believe that we can win. We have put so much hard work in since August. If we play the game we know how to play, we will be unstoppable. We have played the majority of our competition sometime throughout this season, so we know what we are up against."
