On Friday, September 22, Casady Boys Volleyball battled against division rivals St. Mark’s. Having lost to them in the Houston Zone Cup, the Cyclones went in hoping to bounce back. After a four-set battle, the Cyclones came up short, with the scores for each set at 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, and 21-25.

According to team captain Krish Vasan (‘24): “We need to get rid of the idea that seniors lead the team. I really think that anyone on the court can lead, and they just need to step up in the moment.”

The following day, the Cyclones faced the reigning SPC champions: Trinity Valley. In another four-set battle, the Cyclones came up short again to another very skilled opponent. After this game, the Cyclones were 0-3 in conference play and seeded last in the North Zone.

Despite the losses and adversity, the Cyclones shifted their focus to the following weekend's trip to Fort Worth, where they would play Fort Worth Country Day and Trinity Valley once again. In the first match against Country Day, the Cyclones won the first two sets, but the Falcons turned it up in the next two sets, forcing a fifth set. The Cyclones stood  ready and dominated throughout the fifth set winning 15-8.

With this confidence-boosting win, the Cyclones were ready to take on the Trojans once again. The Cyclones came out against the Trojans with much more energy and a stronger sense of fight. The Cyclones and Trojans battled it out for five sets, and in the end, the Cyclones came out on top with a massive victory against the Trojans. Notable moments in the game included Jonah Landis (‘26) with 4 aces and David Fares (‘24) putting up a staggering 19 digs. Coming off this big win, the Cyclones are now seeded fourth in the North zone and have an off weekend before traveling back down south to play St. Mark’s and Greenhill. A win could cement them as one of the top competitors in the upcoming Fall SPC championships.
