A Dominating Performance for Football on Homecoming

The sound of the victory bell rang loudly throughout Casady on Friday. Since the very beginning of the game, victory seemed imminent; the Casady Varsity football team beat Greenhill with a score of 42 - 18.Horns blare and students cheer out. Hands down, the student section was the most raucous and enthusiastic, carrying on the loudest support that we have heard all season. At this game the student section was one of the biggest, with 150 students, a new record. The playful student section had many supportive cheers: “OOOOU” for Casady’s field goal (and even once by accident for the other team’s field goal); “he’s a freshman” when Bolen MacKellar ('25) had a fantastic play; and “you can’t do that” whenever Greenhill fouled Casady. The student section also came in pink clothes to show their support for the fight against breast cancer.On both sides of the ball, the Casady football team “made good plays,” said Head Coach Koby Scoville. Casady had an explosive 2nd quarter with 28 points. This helped Casady pull away from Greenhill, and Casady followed that with 14 points in the 3rd quarter. In total, Casady had 417 yards of offense including 266 rushing yards. Coach Scoville stated that “how we ran the ball” separated Casady from Greenhill.Quarterback Carson Horton ('23) threw for three touchdowns, completing two to Cole Philips ('23) and one to Kyler Scoville ('22). After “Cole’s second touchdown” Coach Soville knew that Casady had secured a victory. The leading rushers for Casady were Connor Phelps ('24) with 85 yards plus a touchdown and Connor Richards ('23) with 70 yards on the ground. Carson Horton and Bo Naifeh ('22) also each rushed for a touchdown.Casady “had a lot of turnovers on defense,” said Coach Scoville, with everyone doing his part. The defense dominated the game by letting Greenhill run the ball only -2 yards and forcing them to throw 5 interceptions. Greenhill had around half the total yards of offense compared to Casady, with 209 yards. “We stopped Greenhill and executed it really well,” said Head Coach Scoville.
