Here's Why Twitter Should Delete Donald Trump's Account
Ford Watkins, Politics EditorUnfortunately, I'm beginning to think that generations down the line, years from now, children will have to memorize some of Donald Trump's most controversial tweets. Society will see our President's Twitter account as the new epic poem of the millennia; the Iliad of its time. And because of Trump's vitality on social media, and his constant viral tweets, we need to realize that Trump's twitter account is inevitably, in one way or another, going to affect us all at some point as a nation. His moronic persona and almost-satirical tweets regarding a man with a nuclear arsenal that could destroy every bit of land residing in the Pacific Ocean puts millions in danger, and his pompous tweets regarding his IQ almost certainly are just for his own self-esteem. The most devastating part, however, is that he doesn't realize how utterly disgusting he sounds. Here are some of Donald Trump's (our President, mind you) most recent Tweets:From January 6th, 2018:"....Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart. Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star.....""....to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that!"Just to clarify, anybody who feels the need to call themselves a "stable genius" based on his past choices A) hasn't made very good past choices and B) is not a stable nor a genius in the least. From January 4th, 2018:"The Fake News Media barely mentions the fact that the Stock Market just hit another New Record and that business in the U.S. is booming...but the people know! Can you imagine if “O” was president and had these numbers - would be biggest story on earth! Dow now over 25,000."Mr. President, you are literally taking credit for "O's" economic improvement. If "O" was still in office, the stock market would be exactly where it is right now. That's how the stock market works. These are some of Donald Trump's more popular and trending Tweets over the past two days. But we can't judge a man's character over a few Tweet's can we?Dissecting his social media presence even further, it's astonishing to see what exactly Donald Trump's ideas are. His Retweets (a reposted or forwarded message on Twitter from another user) show exactly what he thinks about the most important of matters, Retweeting things from Charlie Kirk, an alt-right entrepreneur who found an organization that allows young Republicans to share their opinions with each other. "Pundit" or "expert" would be giving him too much credit. Trump also frequently retweets segments from Fox and Friends, a TV show I recommend to absolutely nobody (unless bigotry is your thing) and memes from alt-right Twitter bots that deify Trump in a repugnant way.Trump's Retweets and Tweets are just trying to justify his reprehensible actions using a plethora of logical fallacies like ad hominems, equivocations, and the "tu quoque" method. That's exactly why I want his Twitter deleted. Now, I know it will never happen. Again. Technically, his account was deleted for 11 minutes on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. Twitter said they would never delete a world leader's account because “Blocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial Tweets, would hide important information people should be able to see and debate.”Truthfully, I understand this point of view. I also applaud Twitter for representing the first amendment. However, when Tweets qualify as harassment, abuse, and cyber-bullying, they should be deleted. And if an account, for example @realDonaldTrump, has many of those Tweets, shouldn't it technically be deleted according to Twitter's safety rules? Also, I don't think the quote from Twitter's founder Jack Dorsey above (or @jack) is brutally honest. They, in most senses, want Donald Trump's account to stay up. The traffic that crosses his account leads to unimaginable profits for Twitter. So, of course, I want Trump's account deleted. He has a right to say what he wants, but when he breaks the rules, that right should be taken away. It's that simple.
