Casady Holds Off Oakridge's Late Surge: 20-16

Friday Night Lights at Casady has never felt better. It was a big night for Casady Football. The Casady Cyclones played Oakridge last Friday and racked up a 20-16 victory in a defensive battle.The Cyclones started off the game grabbing a 13-0 lead starting with a beautiful TD pass by Quarterback Ryan McNeill ('18). A powerful TD run by Reid Fisher ('17) extended the lead to two touchdowns to end the first quarter.However, Oakridge responded with a touchdown, making the score 13-7 in the second quarter. The Cyclones put up another touchdown, taking a 20-7 lead. Little did they know that was the last TD they would score in the game. The halftime score was 20-14.The second half was full of controversial calls and defense. Things especially got interesting toward the end of the fourth quarter. The Cyclones kept their 20-14 lead all throughout the second half, however Oakridge took the ball with about five minutes left.The team drove to ball to Casady's 40 yard line. However, the Cyclones' defense forced a fourth down and stopped Oakridge on the next play. Despite the stop, the referees called a Pass Interference and Oakridge got a new down of plays. Oakridge continued their drive into the Casady 10 yard line.The tensions were very high in the Cyclones' student section, as the game could take a turn for the worse. However, it was the Cyclones' sophomore cornerback, Quinton Baden ('19), who came up with a clutch interception to seal the game. The Cyclones took over at their 1 yard line and eventually gave up a safety. Following that, the Cyclones' defense came up clutch again stopping Oakridge's potential game-winning drive with a little over a minute left.Casady sealed their fate with a 20-16 victory against Oakridge. They rang the bell, and the night ended with the traditional chant, "SPC! SPC! SPC!"
