SPC Winter Preview: Men's Soccer
For the first time in seemingly forever, the Casady Boys Soccer team will be playing for a championship. With a collection of talent that is just not hitting its stride, this squad seems poised to make a deep run into the Southwestern Preparatory Conference Division I playoffs. With the tournament bracket set up, let's get you all ready for the trip to Houston.Players to Watch: Emile Karam: With 5 goals and countless assists on the season, the senior forward will look to keep the momentum going on the heels of a 2 goal performance against league-worst All Saints. Whether he's playing on the left wing or at center-mid, Karam can make run-after-run down the sideline, creating an opportunity either for himself or laying a beautiful ball off to a trailing teammate.Alden O'Connor: A chance-creating machine waiting to be unleashed in the playoffs, he's showcased his full skillset since his shift up to striker. O'Connor has the ability to dribble through any defender and put the ball into the back of the net, so watch out for this shifty lad.Paxton Brown: The anchor of Casady's backline, Brown has had a stellar season and will hope to carry that over into the postseason. His uncanny ability to win any ball in the air and clear it at any given notice make it tough to get any balls past the senior.Stat of the Day:After starting the season giving up 5 goals and only scoring 1, the Cyclones turned it around following a loss to fellow playoff team St. Marks, knocking in 25 balls and only giving up 5.
