Cyclones Dominate Eagles 72-50 in Home Opener
On Tuesday December 15th, Varsity Boys Basketball went up against the Seeworth Eagles in their first home game. The expectation was a win; the outcome was the same.Casady went up big in the 2nd quarter, gathering up a 20 point lead and never looking back. At one point, the lead got up to as high as 40 points in the 3rd quarter, which is incredibly impressive for those who didn't know. As such, that is the same time when the starters were yanked from the game and we got to see some quality minutes from our second unit. There are a few factors that helped win the game for the Cyclones, but the most important involve only two: turnovers and transition. The first half didn't really display either to the degree the 3rd quarter did, but the defense was still strong for the whole game (with the exception of some late threes from the Eagles). In the 2nd quarter, the Cyclones went on a pretty nice run where there were some fast-break points and and-one finishes that gave Casady a lot of momentum going into halftime. In the 3rd quarter, the Cyclones came out and dictated the rest of the game with their suffocating defense. This is when Casady really turned up the heat. The lead went from 20 to 40 in the blink of an eye due to the multitude of turnovers and easy buckets the defense created. This is the way Casady wants to play. They want to win the turnover battle, be smart with the ball, and play hard-nosed defense. By doing this, Casady is able to control the game, play how they want to play, and not conform to the playing style of the opposing team. There is not much else to this game. Good defense and easy layups were the main factors. Next up is away at Community Christian School in Norman. We hope to see your support for the Casady Cyclones!
